corner view ~ poem (or Poet)

To have a way with words is a skill….

And for today’s corner view, I thought I’d share about someone who is referred to as a “Literary Genius – the one and only William Shakespeare.  I am corner viewing from his corner of the world!!

Growing up and reading his poems, sonnets, plays and quotes were boring.  Who am I kidding, I was in year 8 and poetry was not ‘cool’.  But such is life, as you grow up you have a better appreciation of Art.

My favorite play that we read in school – Taming of the Shrew.  I also enjoyed “Merchant of Venice” and of course “Romeo and Juliet”.

Here are some photo’s of where Shakespeare’s plays are performed today. The Minack Theatre – a world famous open-air theatre. The story of how and Who built the theatre is as interesting as the place, a worthy read if your interested.  click here

We went in winter so there where no plays scheduled but there’s many in Summer.  It’s on my to do list!!

The plays performed are engraved into the seats. – Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” was the first performed in 1932.

and a view looking up to all the seats available to the public.

And finally I have to leave you with a quote – so many famous ones but today I choose this one:

All the world ‘s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts. (As You Like it – Shakespeare)

Thanks to  Joanne and Ibabe for the theme.  And as always Francesca you’re an awesome host.  For more views start with these lovelies!

Corner View is a weekly gathering - each Wednesday - created by Jane of Spain Daily, and hosted by Francesca.  It’s where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme.

And I agree, Francesca is an awesome host!!

PS I love the quote too, and often think of it because I love to dance/walk everyhwere and do feel that so truly the world is a stage.
Happy travels!

I was lucky enough to have been born in Cornwall and lived just 20 miles away. We used to have school trips to the Minnack (hewn out almost single handedly by a woman!). It would always be rather chilly in the evenings so we used to bring our sleeping bags to put our legs in! I remember watching the Merchant of Venice :-)

How wonderful to attend a Shakespeare play in such a magical setting. I've always wanted to go to Cornwall - it's one of England's special places I think. I will make sure I go to the Minnack when I get there. Fabulous Corner View - Karyn, Eliza's Dream
