corner view ~ twilight

this weeks theme is ‘twilight’ and mines a day late.

photos below are of a trip we took in April to the Jurassic Coastline.  I didn’t know that this place is where some of the scenes from the children’s Adventure Series “Famous Five” by Enid Blyton are.

I used to read those books.

Corner View is a weekly gathering - each Wednesday - created by Jane of Spain Daily, and hosted by Francesca of Fuoriborgo where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme.

but above all – enjoying London.

I hope your weekend was a good one too.

corner view ~ over growth

If there is anything I’ve learnt about living here, it is that when the sun shines you have to get outside.

Leave whatever it is that you think that needs to be done in the house and you go outside.

Below here are some pictures of where I go running – little bit of mountain and along the river.  It’s beautiful  It sure beats running on a treadmill.

Even when it’s over grown (like certain areas are now) it’s still beautiful.

Nature is always beautiful!!

Here are some deer’s that are always there whenever I go running.  It’s tempting to get close by but I don’t dare…..

I let the camera do that!!

hoping your weekend was filled with fun and relaxation.

Looking forward to the new week.

late corner view ~ morning light

I’m not a morning person at all, so I totally miss the morning light.    On most mornings anyway.

By the time I open my eyes, the sunlight is beaming through and it’s time to start the day.  And with the summer holidays here – we have late mornings.

Monochrome Monday

Today is a typical London day – overcast and rainy.    But there’s still many things to look forward too..

Like the release of a certain book tomorrow by Harper Lee.

I loved her first and only book – To Kill a Mockingbird.  And the wait is finally over for the second one, Go Set a Watchman.  Of course there are mixed reviews on it, but I will hold mine until I’ve actually read the whole book.

today we plan on going to the local library. Kids will get their books and I will get mine.  At the top of the list – To Kill a Mockingbird.  You can never read this book too many times!!

To kill a Mockingbird

weekends are for…..

slowing down, finding beauty, having a BBQ, fun with the sprinkler, and meeting up with our friends who were neighbors in Kazakhstan.

hoping your weekend was lovely too.

For 24hours

photo (27)

So today was a stay at home day or a stay close to home day and commute by walking!!  The London Underground Tube workers went on strike...and it caused some major problems.

Now I've come to be so impressed with the public transport here.  When all systems are running smoothly it really is efficient.  But when they shut down there is a domino effect.

No matter how you see things - everything is related to each other.  No one thing - service in this case can stand alone.  The non service of underground tubes had  a ripple effect for sure.

I hope it's just 24 hours and it does not carry on for more than that or for multiple days.  I'm sure the workers have their reasons and I hope it gets solved sooner rather than later......

hope your Thursday was without hiccups...

corner view ~ routine

Summer anywhere for us always means – “No Routine”.

And my kids love it.  We are almost, always spontaneous.  late nights and later mornings.  eating out, eating late and chasing the sun.

Last summer we had just moved here and were feeling our way around.  This time, this summer we want to be out and about.

Hooray to NO ‘routines’……….  for a couple of months anyway!!

corner view ~ path(s)

We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path.

a couple of weeks ago a group of us dressed up and headed off to a ‘very British’ event – tradition actually.

The Royal Ascot.

2015 ISL Ascot

None of us in the group are Brits, but that did not stop us from going and experiencing this wonderful event, that is a big occasion on the Brits calendar.

We had fun.  In our time out there I got to know these women better.  Of course we see each other at school and know each other as ‘so and so’s mum’, but on this day we were woman, carrying our own names, out for a good time.

photo (20)photo (21)

We talked, laughed, placed bets and won some money and also drank Pimms together.

I am certain that this group of women have crossed my path at this time of my life for a reason.  I may not see it yet, but there’s a reason.

Oh and I did get to see the Queen and wave at her!
